About the role

The Software Engineering Professional 2 supports the development and deployment of software solutions across BT platforms, contributing to automation, platform evolution, and strategic delivery. The role operates with greater autonomy, technical depth, and stakeholder engagement, supporting business goals through high-quality engineering practices.

What you’ll be doing

1.Supports the design, development and implementation of software solutions and automation across platforms, ensuring alignment with architecture and business requirements.
2. Supports the implementation of technical solutions, working within cross-functional squads to assist in creating and implementing technical solutions for a domain or cross domain activity within the technology area.
3. Helps in the design and delivery of scalable software components, contributing to overall improvements and upgrades.
4. Writes and maintains code using software development best practices (e.g. Python, Java, Bash), including testing principles and pipelines.
5. Troubleshoots complex faults across softwar e infrastructure, collaborating with senior specialists when required.
6. Builds cases for change using data and analytical techniques, communicating recommendations to business audiences.
7. Supports with the designs of technical specifications and development of software solutions of complex initiatives in partnership with team, contributing towards the quality of delivery.
8. Maintains standards for audit and security compliance, ensuring solutions meet regulatory and internal requirements.
9. Provides inputs to project progress and contributes to solution artefacts for new products or platform enhancements.
10. Identifies opportunities for automation and efficiency, proactively leading improvement initiatives.
11.Supports internal customers before and after service delivery, ensuring high-quality experience and resolution.
12. Participates in Agile squads and leads assigned workstreams, ensuring structured delivery and documentation.
13. Supports engineering and operational excellence initiatives, assisting with implementing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement.
14. Contributes to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the engineering community.
