Job Description

Job Req ID: 63376

Posting Date: 9th Oct 2026

Closing Date: 23rd Oct 2026

Location: Northampton/Bletchley/Birmingham/Ipswich (Ipswich only available to existing BT staff)

About the role

Transformation Delivery, Physical Security Operations plays a key role in delivering the BT Security Strategy and supporting BT Group’s ambition to be the most trusted connector of people, devices and machines.
You will help move new physical security systems and processes into BAU, with particular responsibility for maturing and operationalising Genetec Security Center across PSOC, access control, video and alarm-monitoring services. This includes PSOC improvements, turnkey alarm monitoring for retail stores, integrated access control across the retained estate, and controlled coexistence with legacy platforms. You will also support wider BT priorities, including Network Modernisation, simplification and strategic Big Bets such as AI.
This helps Physical Security Operations protect BT’s people, buildings, retail stores, networks and critical infrastructure — the assets our customer service depends on. You will contribute to the operational delivery of BT’s Security Strategy and Transformation, helping BT become the world’s most trusted connector.

This role requires 3 days in the office & can be based in any of the following locations: Northampton / Bletchley / Birmingham / Ipswich (Ipswich only available to existing BT staff)

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead through expertise, set clear operational standards, coach PSOC users, coordinate suppliers and delivery teams, and drive adoption of Genetec and legacy-service improvements.
  • Hands-on triage and escalation for Genetec Security Center, Mission Control, access control, CCTV, alarm integrations and associated legacy monitoring platforms, including liaison with vendors and internal technical teams through to service restoration.
  • Drive continuous improvements to Physical Security Operations (PSOC and PIAM) through strategic projects. Influence decision-makers and help teams adopt simpler, better ways of working.
  • Help maintain network and service availability by ensuring effective security protection for colleagues, customers and BT.
  • Work with stakeholders at Director level on matters relating to BT physical security.
  • Support activities on behalf of Group ExCo, Security Council and BARC.
  • Lead the operational maturity of Genetec Security Center, including configuration standards, alarm and event workflows, integrations, service performance and adoption within PSOC.
  • Maintain safe and resilient support for legacy monitoring used by BT operational exchange sites and EE retail stores, while planning risk-controlled migration, coexistence and decommissioning where appropriate.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Embedding Transformational Change and User Requirements: Analyse, plan and implement lasting change across systems, processes and people. Translate user needs into clear requirements, work with Agile delivery teams, and measure the benefits of new systems in service. (mandatory)
  • Demonstrable experience supporting or delivering 24x7 physical security or network operations, with practical experience of Physical Security Operations Center in a complex, multi-site environment. Evidence should include incident and problem resolution, service improvement, supplier management, operational handover, and improvement of SLAs, KPIs and user outcomes. Experience supporting legacy access control, CCTV, intruder and alarm-signalling technologies during migration is essential. (mandatory)

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Service Management: Knowledge of Genetec Security Center architecture and operations, including OmniCast, Synergis, alarm monitoring, federation/integration concepts, event-to-action workflows and Mission Control. Retain the broader requirement for access control, intruder, CCTV and alarm signalling, with emphasis on diagnosing issues across integrated and legacy estates
  • Problem Solving: Use data to identify trends, manage changing demand with fixed resources, and find opportunities to simplify, automate and reduce cycle time.
  • Stakeholder Management: able to work across the organisation to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels in support of project objectives.
  • Supplier Management: Work with suppliers and subcontractors at all levels to resolve faults and implement lasting solutions.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess and manage risks, balancing threats and opportunities, taking mitigation action and tracking risks through their lifecycle.
  • Involvement in business-critical environments, working with recognized subject matter experts.
  • Substantial practical experience of physical security operations and Genetec experience essential; network operations and formal transformation/change qualifications desired.
  • Understand Agile delivery and translate operational requirements into software team backlogs.
  • Communicated business strategy to multiple audiences.
  • Experience leading cross-functional delivery, influencing operational teams without direct authority, managing suppliers, and coordinating recovery or organisational change
