Posting Date: 20/07/26

Function: Engineering

Location: London - Hillcroft Road

Salary: £44,881.00

About the role

Our Data Centre Engineers play a key role throughout the entire service lifecycle, from concept, design and testing through to delivery, deployment, in-service support, and end-of-life recovery across multiple mobile platforms. Working within a structured operational framework, the team adopts a common set of processes and local delivery models to provide a comprehensive environment that consistently delivers outcomes agreed with key stakeholders.

You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting critical network infrastructure across two data centre sites, ensuring the availability, performance, and resilience of production services. You'll undertake the provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of voice and cloud platforms, alongside supporting break-fix activities, circuit fault diagnosis, and component-level repairs on data centre hardware.

Working closely with network engineering, infrastructure, and operational teams, you'll contribute to service delivery, change implementation, incident resolution, and technical improvements. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems, and supporting the reliable operation of essential network and data centre services.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Delivering projects and activities related to the job role whilst following the correct processes.
  • Providing technical guidance for peers, graduates and apprentices undertaking team activities.
  • Contributing to collaborative goals
  • Using recognised tools, such as SharePoint and internal configuration systems to improve knowledge sharing and successfully undertake projects and/or team activities.
  • Enhance the profitability and customer satisfaction of BT’s platforms by providing physical design and deployment services that are best in class for reliability, cost and timeliness.
  • Maintain responsibility for site custodianship, ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the site by monitoring conditions, escalating issues, and coordinating with relevant teams to address security, access, power, cooling, and facilities-related concerns.
  • Support the work of the team by providing accurate, reliable, insightful and timely business engineering interventions.

Skills and Experience

Essential
• Technical Network Infrastructure Expertise – Strong knowledge of fibre and copper cabling systems, hardware installation, testing, fault diagnosis, and network deployment across diverse technical environments
• Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance – Understanding of Health & Safety requirements, CDM regulations, access control processes, and support for internal and external audit standards including ISO27K
• Project & Delivery Coordination – Experience supporting the full technical delivery lifecycle, including design, planning, build, testing, operational acceptance, and phased delivery management
• Operational Excellence & Asset Management – Ability to manage stores, equipment, deliveries, and deployment activities while adhering to standard procedures and maintaining service quality

Desirable

• Good working knowledge of the organisational structures and key roles in place to manage and support these platforms and the products they support
• Experience of working in diversely located and multi-disciplinary teams
• Understanding of variety of technologies within a telecoms environment and the network standards required
• Experience of prioritising assigned tasks and pro-actively reporting on progress
• Experience of highlighting, reporting and understanding how best to treat risk & issues
• Have a strong attention to detail and maintain high quality standard
