Job Description

Location: Birmingham

AI Interview: Due to high number of applications, we're using an AI platform to assist with screening applications. This will involve a 20-25 mins interview via a chat platform, after which you will immediately receive feedback based on your responses. All applications will be reviewed by a recruiter, and you'll be informed whether or not you've been progressed to the next stage - meeting the hiring manager.

About the role

Mid‑Market sits at a strategic sweet spot — large enough to sell meaningful, complex solutions, but agile enough to avoid enterprise‑level bureaucracy. You’ll have direct access to decision‑makers, faster sales cycles, and the opportunity to see real impact from the relationships you build.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage a portfolio of SME customers as their dedicated mobile account specialist.
  • Drive customer retention by managing contract renewals and reducing churn risk.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities that increase customer value and revenue growth.
  • Conduct outbound sales activity to uncover additional opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Use a consultative sales approach to understand customer challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Analyse account performance, usage trends, and customer activity to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Create and maintain account plans that support retention and growth objectives.
  • Negotiate and progress customer agreements through to successful completion.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Contract Managers, and specialist teams to deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM records.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Proven experience in business-to-business sales, account management, or customer retention.
  • Competent knowledge of the mobile telecommunications market
  • Demonstrable success defending and growing existing customer accounts, managing contract renewals, re-sign activity, and customer retention programmes.
  • Proven outbound sales and business development capability.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience within telecommunications, connectivity, or wider technology sectors.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and sales pipeline management.
  • Experience preparing quotations, proposals, or business cases.
  • Previous experience working alongside virtual or multi-disciplinary sales teams.
  • Understanding of the competitive UK mobile market.
  • Experience identifying process improvements that enhance customer or commercial performance.

Our Package

  • 50% on target bonus
  • Access to an online private GP 24/7 for you and your immediate family
  • Market-leading paid carers leave with up to 2 weeks off
  • Equalized maternity, paternity, and adoption leave – 18 weeks’ full pay and 8 weeks’ half pay
  • Discounted EE and BT products, including mobile and broadband
  • Market leading Pension scheme – 5% from you and 10% from us
  • Holiday purchase scheme

Join us at a pivotal moment for BT Business. We are executing a multi-year transformation to restore growth, modernise at scale and unlock new markets beyond connectivity. Our ambition is clear – return to sustainable revenue and EBITDA growth, strengthen our market position, and deliver meaningful shareholder value through disciplined execution and bold reinvention.

We are fundamentally reshaping the business – simplifying our portfolio, digitising our customer experience and building market-leading capability across cyber, AI and managed services, all powered by the UK’s leading fixed and mobile networks. This is a shift from a legacy connectivity provider to a modern, solutions-led, AI-first business that can truly differentiate in a competitive and fast-moving market.

With execution momentum building and a clear path to growth, the opportunity now is to scale what works, accelerate performance and fully realise our potential. This is about delivering against ambitious financial outcomes while transforming how we operate – creating a business that is simpler, faster, more innovative and easier to do business with.

If you want to be part of the team shaping the turnaround of a multi-billion-pound business – and building a stronger, more competitive BT for the future – this is your moment.
