Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

About the role

This role is critical to our strategic growth, acting as a key player in securing and delivering high-value, complex customer-centric opportunities. By aligning customer needs with our capabilities, the role drives innovation, orchestrates cross-functional collaboration, and ensures we are positioned as a trusted partner for transformational solutions. It not only contributes to revenue growth and market leadership but also enhances our reputation and fosters a culture of excellence across teams.

This job role can be based in London, Manchester, Cheltenham or Ipswich. Hybrid (3 days office based & 2 days remote). Mon-Fri 37.5. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Opportunity Leadership: You will lead strategic opportunities from initiation to closure, often within tight timelines, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer requirements and priorities, defining a bid/win strategy from the offset.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: You will collaborate with senior internal stakeholders up to MD-level and external clients to shape compelling, commercially viable responses. You will work with stakeholders across a range of functions: Client Partners, CTO, Finance, Legal, Security, Delivery and Service Enablement.
  • Bid Strategy & Governance: You will lead cross-functional bid teams, ensuring robust governance, risk management, and compliance throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
  • Commercial Modelling: You will guide the development of commercial models, pricing strategies, and business cases that deliver customer value while delivering sustainable business.
  • Proposal Development: You will craft professional, persuasive bid responses that clearly articulate value and differentiation.

Essential:

  • Proven experience leading large-scale commercial opportunities or bids from qualification and strategy through to submission and contract award.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop and articulate complex business cases.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior levels.
  • Deep understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and solution selling.

Desirable:

  • Experience in leading large-scale commercial opportunities or bids within telecoms, IT, or managed services.
  • Professionally recognised bid/proposal management qualification (e.g., APMP Foundation/Practitioner/Professional or equivalent) or training (e.g. Shipley)
