About the role

This job is responsible for designing solutions to provide new features or improve the performance of our IOT Connectivity platform on behalf of BT Enterprises. You’ll work under the supervision of a network design manager or solution design specialist. This work will include :
• identifying the right technical solutions to meet the business’s requirements;
• being mindful of resilience and cost;
• documenting and reviewing the design and delivering the design into the operational platform in line with proper change management.
• Working with the support and provisioning teams as their technical expert when they repair or setup customers’ sites.
You will be expected to work with routing, switching and firewalling, combining these technologies to build world class levels of network availability for critical national infrastructure IOT networks. We are a small team with some really talented people, some of whom are qualified or experienced to CCIE level. This whole team will help you to grow your skills and experience in building great networks.

Since IOT is a rapidly developing area, there is limited best practice and the network supporting this needs to be re-created from the ground up. Therefore, you will be expected to join colleagues to meet customers and product managers to understand what their IOT networks require and create innovative solutions to meet those needs, test your solutions, deploy them and then support them in life using a DevOps model.

What you’ll be doing

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities
• Designs solutions that are scalable, adaptable & cost effective in line with business needs and manage the integration of the design.
• Provides in-life support for issues related to their specific solution and root cause analysis for their own designs.
• Delivers and designs components of end to end technical solutions based on specific requirement using standard approaches in line with the wider technical strategy or roadmap.
• Reallocates work internally and externally by breaking down technical solutions into smaller delivery elements.
• Provides technical expertise to inform contract and commercial management.

Essential Skills / Experience

• Technology design - You analyse user requirements and help to design components for software, systems and networks.
• Be agile - You identify opportunities to use collaborative approaches and continuous improvement. You contribute to projects as a subject matter expert or content owner.
• You have an engineering knowledge of how to install and operate IP networks so that they perform as designed.
• You maintain an up to date understanding of the technology required to build and operate IOT core networks.

• Advocating and applying technology where it has not been used previously.
• Developed an internal network of strong working relationships you can call on to assist with your role
