About the role

This role has a direct impact on:
• EE/BT Current & future Network Performance, Network Efficiency & Subscriber’s Experience (including ESN).
• Ability to maintain & strengthen EE/BT position as #1 UK mobile network and push for global top ten network.
• Positive/Negative Perception/PR of Network performance/customer experience.

It achieves this by working with internal/external stakeholders, suppliers of Equipment/Services and OTT (Over-The-Top) Suppliers of Services to deliver the insights and delivery plan to achieve and maintain #1 Network.
This role has a significant impact on shaping the Mobile RAN Strategy & subsequent budget required to deliver this.

What you’ll be doing

Your key accountabilities are:
• Support the delivery of analytics that the Mobile Networks team need to understand how to optimise the services that runs across EE/BT mobile RAN and E2E network for consumer-based services.

• Work with colleagues to develop the necessary analytics to identify key performance bottlenecks to BT’s NLTF programme and maintain BT’s #1 UK Best Network position

• Where directed, work in conjunction with internal/external teams to deliver insights and an agreed plan to ensure aspects of RAN, E2E & customer experience KPI Targets are maintained/exceeded.

• Develop the necessary statistical significance testing and modelling that underpins all NLTF analytics pipelines

• Develop, where needed, the appropriate prediction models for forecasting BTs NLTF performance based on applicable levers.

• Continually provide strategic views of EE/BT vs competitor networks. Understand what competitor networks are doing and areas of underperformance in EE/BT network performance.

• Work with Line manager (as first point of contact) then subsequently Project Delivery & RAN Front door process teams to advise and agree required resources and timescales to deliver new functionality.

• Work with wider organisation to leverage tools and data available to define methods and algorithms to identify locations for Service improvement. Where required tools and data do not exist work with Team lead to define requirements to allow for development request to be raised.

• Continually review tools and analytics landscape for more efficient and better-quality insight delivery.

Essential Skills / Experience

• Basic/intermediate knowledge of mobile networks (2G, 4G, 5G NSA/SA)

• Strong knowledge of mathematics including statistics, hypothesis testing, statistical significance testing, models for prediction/forecasting

• Deep analytical mindset / problem solving

• Some knowledge/familarisaiton of the different machine learning techniques

• Intermediatory/expert knowledge in Python

• Experience with Excel, SQL, Qlik, GCP/AWS would be an advantage

• Ability to convert highly technical concepts into simple to understand language which can then be used to drive programmes of work

• Proactive approach to analytics, thinking about what our users will need and how to continue to maintain BT’s #1 Network

• Maintain high level of domain expertise, keeping abreast of the developments within the telecoms market and data analysis techniques (data mining, ML, AI) to ensure continued delivery to time, cost and quality in the face of both internal and external change

• Working knowledge of mobile networks.

• Able to provide insights into network performance & optimisation of 2G/4G/5G based networks.

• Excellent mathematical knowledge

Desirable Skills / Experience

• Familiarity with test software & devices (Nemo/TEMs/Accuver) & post processing tools (Actix).

• Knowledge of industry best practice methodologies for analysing, defining and documenting the link between input business requirements and output technical solutions.

• Appreciation of project management techniques and tools.

• Experience of working with suppliers and third parties, of product/feature selection and of delivering those products into a production environment.
