We operate a hybrid model of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home, please only apply if you are comfortable with this arrangement.

Why this job matters

The Principal Architect is the most Senior Technical Leadership role aligned to one of BT Business’s largest and most complex account. The holder will be proficient and experienced in creating enterprise architectural designs for UK’s leading companies.

The key purpose of the role is to enhance the customer experience and drive profitable growth. The Architect is the customer’s Trusted Advisor for technology and design, as such an integral part of customer’s matrix technical leadership team. They create value through the exploitation of technology across complex architectures.

The holder is expected to hold industry qualifications appropriate to architectural design of complex solutions containing BT products and associated technologies, for example: WAN, LAN, DC networking, Voice and Collaboration, Contact Centres, Security and Tooling.

What you’ll be doing

The Principal Architect is the primary customer interface up to CIO level for all technical design aspects of BT’s solution. Specifically:

• Be part of the account leadership team and the customers trusted advisor
• Maintain a multi-year solution roadmap, co-created with the customers key decision makers and stakeholders.

• Drawing on the customer’s business drivers, industry trends and BT’s product and solutions portfolio
• Ensure technical risks and issues are managed and mitigated
• Provide leadership to the operational teams in moments of major customer jeopardy
• Drive revenue generation, cashflow, EBIT, NPS and on time quality delivery

Technology expertise:
A diverse range of technical skills at an architecture level, deeper in a number:
• WAN / LAN / Wi-Fi (e.g. HPE, Fortinet, Cisco)
• Software defined networks (SDWAN, SDLAN, Segmentation)
• Security (e.g. ZTNA, IAM, IDS/IPS, ZTNA, SASE, Firewalls)
• Proxy Technology (e.g. Palo Alto, Bluecoat, Ivanti, Cisco)
• Collaboration / Voice (e.g. MS Teams, Cisco, GSIP)
• Contact Centres (e.g. Avaya, Genesys)
• Public/private Compute / Cloud (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Tooling / IaC (e.g. Netbrain, Terraform)

Knowledge skills:
• Strategy Development (e.g. discovery, requirements, road mapping, architecture)
• Methodology (e.g. TOGAF, MBSE, ITIL, DevOps, etc.)
• Architectural/Technical governance
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to Cx level
• Solution Design and Delivery and risk management
• Virtual Team strategy setting and leadership
• Commercial Awareness
• Stakeholder management

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
