Job Description

Locations: London (preferred), Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester

Flexible Working: BT have moved to a hybrid working model - you can work from home 2 days per week. This means you’ll be at your contractual location 3 days a week.

About the role

In Sales and Commercial, we’re building one of the biggest and best sales teams in the country. We’ve got big ambitions to develop a team that has the right ability and will to win. Central to our ambitions are;

  • Using our unparalleled expertise to bring first class solutions to market and offer a compelling value proposition to our customers that’s unmatched by our competitors
  • Developing a highly skilled, highly efficient sales powerhouse through competitive pricing, an optimised channel model and best in class tools
  • Relentless pursuit of a high-performance culture founded on clear career progression and the drive and determination to become the UK’s best sales force

Bring your experience of cybersecurity in financial services to shape how BT helps banks strengthen cyber resilience, operational resilience and digital trust. You'll lead credible conversations with customers about the risks they face, connect their needs to BT's capabilities and influence where we invest next.

This is a specialist role within our innovation agenda. Your practical experience will help customers and colleagues challenge assumptions, identify gaps and develop new approaches. You'll work with BT's account management, security, advisory, innovation, product, marketing, commercial and delivery teams to strengthen our position in UK financial services.

What you’ll be doing

  • Shape BT's financial services innovation strategy across cyber resilience, operational resilience, digital trust and secure transformation, using customer, threat and regulatory insight to influence product roadmaps and investment priorities.
  • Lead executive customer discussions and workshops, using your practitioner experience to challenge assumptions and connect financial institutions' security risks and regulatory needs with BT's capabilities.
  • Build a pipeline of scalable, commercially viable propositions, including opportunities in AI-enabled security operations and fraud prevention, supported by business cases and clear routes to market.
  • Lead customer discovery and co-creation, validating prototypes, proofs of concept and minimum viable products with product teams, and supporting adoption and scale-up with measurable outcomes and appropriate security, privacy and risk governance.
  • Work across BT's specialist and delivery teams and with technology partners, cyber specialists and fintechs to combine capabilities and bring differentiated propositions to market.
  • Strengthen BT's financial services security and resilience narrative with Marketing, equip Sales and Account teams with insight and engagement tools, and represent BT at executive briefings, customer events and industry forums.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Substantial experience in cybersecurity within banking or financial services, with a strong understanding of cyber risk and resilience in an operational setting.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity operating models, frameworks, threats and security-by-design principles, alongside financial services regulation, operational resilience, critical third-party risk and demonstrable assurance.
  • The credibility to engage and constructively challenge senior leaders, explain complex security and regulatory topics clearly, and influence colleagues across teams.
  • The ability to turn customer needs and specialist insight into commercially viable use cases and propositions, with experience shaping strategies, business cases and go-to-market plans.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Recognised financial services or cybersecurity thought leadership, or experience across multiple financial services segments and complex regulated technology environments.
  • A track record of taking scalable innovation propositions from discovery to adoption, including work with product squads, innovation governance or ecosystem-led delivery.
  • Experience in fraud prevention, technology risk or digital trust.
  • Knowledge of areas such as secure networking, cloud security, Zero Trust, AIOps, AI SecOps, identity, encryption, sovereign services or quantum-safe security. These are desirable areas of expertise, not a checklist of mandatory specialisms.

About us:

Join us at a pivotal moment for BT Business. We are executing a multi-year transformation to restore growth, modernise at scale and unlock new markets beyond connectivity. Our ambition is clear – return to sustainable revenue and EBITDA growth, strengthen our market position, and deliver meaningful shareholder value through disciplined execution and bold reinvention.

We are fundamentally reshaping the business – simplifying our portfolio, digitising our customer experience and building market-leading capability across cyber, AI and managed services, all powered by the UK’s leading fixed and mobile networks. This is a shift from a legacy connectivity provider to a modern, solutions-led, AI-first business that can truly differentiate in a competitive and fast-moving market.

With execution momentum building and a clear path to growth, the opportunity now is to scale what works, accelerate performance and fully realise our potential. This is about delivering against ambitious financial outcomes while transforming how we operate – creating a business that is simpler, faster, more innovative and easier to do business with.
