Why this job matters

We’re looking for a Major Deal Architect to lead some of our most strategic and complex public sector opportunities — typically worth £10m+ and spanning multi‑year bids. This is a great fit for an influential communicator who thrives in complex environments. You’re solution-focused, commercially astute, and able to coordinate diverse teams to deliver high-impact outcomes. You understand public sector customers and enjoy shaping solutions that deliver long-term value.

In this role, you will bring together technical, commercial, and financial experts to shape compelling solutions for Central Government, Defence, Public Safety & Justice, and NHS-facing customers. You’ll guide the bid from qualification through to final submission, ensuring BT delivers innovative, competitive, and high‑quality proposals that maximise our ability to win.

What you’ll be doing

- Lead major public sector deals (£10m+) alongside Sales and senior stakeholders.
- Shape solution strategy, commercial approach, and win themes for large, complex bids.
- Coordinate a matrix team including Solution Architects, Bid Managers, Finance, Service teams, and external partners.
- Lead responses to PQQs, ITTs, and ITNs — ensuring quality, compliance, and strong scoring against customer evaluation criteria.
- Engage with customers to understand requirements, influence early thinking, and position BT effectively.
- Guide internal governance, deal reviews, pricing checkpoints, and contract development.
- Ensure written bid content meets the highest standards.

Experience Required

Sales & Bid Expertise: Proven experience working on public sector tenders and major pursuits.
Bid Shaping:
Ability to design competitive, commercially-sound major deals.
Governance Leadership: Comfortable leading senior-level reviews and clearly articulating win strategy, solution, and commercials.
Commercial Awareness: Able to understand and communicate complex commercial considerations.
Stakeholder & Partner Management: Skilled at building internal and external relationships to improve win probability.
Public Sector Procurement Knowledge: Familiar with OJEU-style (Official Journal of the EU) procurement, clarifications, frameworks, and compliance processes.

DON'T MEET EVERY SINGLE REQUIREMENT?

Studies have shown that women and people who are disabled, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse or from ethnic minority backgrounds are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification and criteria.

We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace where everyone can be their best, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every requirement on the Job Description, please apply anyway - you may just be the right candidate for this or other roles in our wider team.
