Job Title: CTO Cyber Security Specialist

Career Grade: D

Location: London, Cheltenham, Ipswich (Adastral) or Manchester

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

GSS has grown significantly over the past 5 years, in relation to large scale data, security monitoring, networking platforms and vulnerability research programmes. As BT and GSS customers transform in response to new platform, network technologies and cyber threats, the CTO Cyber security specialist is an important role to put innovation into the heart of our delivery and lead our customers into the future of cyber.

This role will be key in understanding customer future capability requirements and contributing towards the GSS vision to meet our growth ambitions whilst protecting and growing GSS top and bottom line. This will underpin our technical capabilities and technology stacks in this area, aligning to BT, customer and industry best practice and leveraging new cloud and networking technologies.

What you’ll do:

  • Supporting the CTO Principal for Cyber Security across BT GSS Cyber Security based products, capabilities, and services inc; analysis, processing, data science, networking, security and software development in both offensive and defensive scenarios.
  • Working agnostically across GSS delivery projects and teams.
  • Contributing and setting Technology direction of the GSS nation scale full spectrum cyber capabilities, its specific benefits to our customers mission, exploiting the technology roadmap.
  • Helping to set direction, goals, and targets to grow and evolve the existing GSS portfolio of bespoke Cyber security products and solutions in line with portfolio and technology strategy, customer mission priorities and new funding opportunities.
  • Contributes to the definition of innovative and commercially viable GSS solutions offerings in the Cyber capability space, incl. customer use cases, products and solutions design, delivery and migration experience, in-life customer and user experience and commercial approach.
  • Engages and aligns with BT’s internal cyber protection security teams.
  • Utilises BT portfolio alignment through wider Cyber technology leadership functions (Business, Networks & Digital)
  • Drives growth, diversification, and increased value in the GSS portfolio of bespoke Cyber products and solutions
  • Provides input to the Innovation programme in relation to Cyber security related objectives.
  • Provides thought leadership on Cyber topics in GSS and wider BT domains.
  • Supports driving new Vulnerability research in emerging technologies (e.g., 5G, SDWAN) and strategic application areas.
  • Establish & Exploit external vendor and partner engagements in the Cyber Security technology sector.
  • Work closely with customers to understand and solve their problems using new and existing technology.
  • Work with the relevant Engineering and Service Enablement teams to ensure appropriate skills in Cyber security related technologies.
  • Monitors market trends and external thinking on Cyber security.
  • Supports developing GSS academic engagements relating to Cyber Security.

What you'll bring:

DV clearance is required at the outset as well as experience working in a Cyber Security related role evidencing:

  • A passion for solving complex technical challenges through innovation.
  • An appreciation of the Cyber Security landscape and its ever-increasing importance in a connected world
  • Proven expertise in the Cyber Security Technology field
  • Deep understanding of Customer needs, both now and future facing
  • Hands-on experience contributing to and leading end to end technical engineering teams.

Nice to have:

  • Track record of coaching skills to motivate direct and matrix teams/individuals to achieve their personal best.
  • Knowledge and experience of service propositions and technical solutions design.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance ( https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). The role is subject to you gaining and keeping the necessary level of security clearance needed to undertake your work. The result of the security clearance vetting is not subject to appeal. Failure to successfully achieve and maintain the necessary level of security clearance may see any offer of employment with BT cease or withdrawn or may cause a role change or possibly lead to termination of employment.
