Contract Specialist

About the role

The Contract & Business Specialist executes a range of workstreams in supporting the optimisation of revenue streams and profitability opportunities by contributing to the negotiation of favourable terms and conditions of high value contracts in compliance with internal and external controls.

What you’ll be doing

1. Drafts, negotiates, and executes business contracts with key customers.
2. Manages the contract process from contract creation, including observing associated governance that applies to creation and execution.
3. Delivers the negotiation of contracts of varying complexities and deal values, engaging directly with clients and utilising the necessary commercial, legal, and financial resources to deliver a successful contract.
4. Contributes to commercial outcomes by delivering specialist advice on deal construction, contract development and commercial / operational requirements.
5. Participates in an advisory capacity across the BT Group as a company-wide business advisory resource.
6. Supports and coaches team members belonging to Commercial Trading and Management team as well as other parties involved in large contract negotiations or tender responses.
7. Ensures rigorous internal and external controls compliance (including accounting policies) ensuring contractual requirements can be fulfilled from legal and commercial perspectives.
8. Delivers work in the development of the non-standard contracts, contract simplification projects and the evolution of a contract playbook of non-standard terms and conditions with associated business approvals, recommending process improvements to reflect best practice and changing regulations/environment for standard and non-standard contracts.
9. Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in the commercial environment.
