Why this job matters

As the Commercial Analysis Professional you will supports the collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data to support the BT Group's strategic decision making. You’ll be a part of an exciting transformation of the channel and routes to market, improving the customer and colleague experience as well as delivering significant returns for BT Business. The purpose of this team is to act as a central point of commercial analysis and insight for the CPS unit, conducting high quality and detailed analysis across multiple data sources to help improve the efficiency and quality of our commercial decisioning. This role will focus on establishing strong foundational data sources and structures to support the CPS Commercial data strategy, take on major hypotheses for investigation and derive actionable insight to guide our strategic decisions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Data availability – interface into the Digital team to understand the latest data availability and capability
  • Data Strategy – input recommendations into the CPS data strategy based on data availability and capability. Work with stakeholders to identify key metrics and opportunities for improving business processes, products, and services.
  • Data Structure – Build, deploy and maintain data management systems and back-end commercial data infrastructure for our commercial analysis
  • Data Analysis - Investigating key hypothesis and deriving actionable insights that inform strategic direction for CPS
  • Collaboration - the ability to collaborate effectively with other teams or departments is essential.

What we expect to see on your CV

  • Technical Ability – knowledge of data science toolkits such as SQL, Python, R, Qlik and Big Query. Awareness of Google Cloud Platform.
  • Data Engineering: experience in the warehousing, mining, exploration and analysis of data
  • Problem Solving: experience in identifying key business challenges, define problem statements, and design effective analytical approaches to tackle complex issues.
  • Critical Evaluation: experience in collating and interrogating datapoints to prove/disprove a commercial hypothesis, provide root cause analysis or inform strategy
  • Communication and Storytelling: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for effectively conveying insights to various stakeholders. The ability to translate complex data into clear and meaningful narratives, along with impactful visualisations, is essential.
