Why this job matters

We’re seeking dynamic and strategic Procurement Managers to join our Business Category procurement team, with procurement categories covering IT Security, Field Services, and IT Hardware & Distributors with spend across these categories exceeding £0.5Bn per annum. This is a high-impact role where you’ll drive innovation, manage critical supplier relationships, and ensure our business, and those of our customers, remain secure and resilient in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Your influence and impact will span both BT’s own requirements and those of some our biggest global customers, giving you an end-to-end view and stake in how the business really works.

What you’ll be doing

As the Procurement Manager, you will:

  • Develop and execute category strategies for products and services, aligned with business goals and risk management priorities.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives including RFPs, negotiations, and contract management for key vendors.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across Market Unit, Product, Operations, Risk, Legal, and Finance to understand needs and deliver value.
  • Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to ensure the company remains ahead of the market.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, global procurement standards, and external regulations.
  • Champion sustainability and diversity in the supply base, aligning with our strong corporate ESG goals.
  • Support risk assessments and contribute to incident response planning from a supplier perspective.

You'll have the following skills and experience

  • Proven experience in procurement, preferably in IT procurement and ideally in a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Deep understanding of IT market dynamics, and vendor landscape.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience with contracting, risk management, and supplier governance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with global teams.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CIPS, CISSP, or similar) are a plus.
