About the role

This is a rare opportunity to become the trusted Business Manager to the Managing Director of Corporate Units Digital.

Corporate Units Digital sits at the heart of BT, enabling the systems, services and platforms that support colleagues across Finance, HR, Legal, Regulatory, Property and other critical business functions. Put simply, it helps create the foundations that allow the wider business to operate effectively every day.

As Business Manager, you'll be a key member of the leadership team, working directly with the Managing Director and senior stakeholders across BT and beyond. You'll help shape strategic priorities, drive execution, coordinate leadership activity and provide the insight needed to support informed decision-making.

This is a highly visible role offering exposure to senior leaders across BT, including Executive Committee stakeholders, whilst providing the opportunity to influence strategy, improve colleague experiences and help drive meaningful business outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Acting as a trusted advisor and partner to the Managing Director, helping drive strategic priorities and business objectives.
  • Providing oversight of operational performance, governance, actions and leadership team activity.
  • Building effective relationships across Corporate Units Digital, BT Group and external partners to drive collaboration and outcomes.
  • Turning complex business challenges, escalations and risks into clear recommendations and actionable solutions.
  • Producing executive-level briefings, presentations, reports and communications tailored to different audiences.
  • Supporting leadership meetings, quarterly reviews, business planning activities and strategic initiatives.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve ways of working, colleague experience and organisational effectiveness.
  • Working closely with teams across HR, Finance, Strategy, Delivery and Technology to ensure priorities remain aligned and on track.
  • Acting as the eyes and ears of the Managing Director, providing insight into what is working well, where support is needed and where intervention may be required.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Proven experience managing and influencing senior stakeholders across a large, complex organisation, including director-level or executive-level stakeholders, multiple business functions and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Proven experience leading or playing a significant role in the end-to-end delivery of technology, digital or business transformation initiatives, with responsibility for coordinating stakeholders, managing dependencies and driving outcomes.
  • Proven experience translating complex business, operational or technical challenges into clear executive-level communications, recommendations and actions for senior decision-makers.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Previous experience as a Business Manager, Delivery Manager, Programme Office Lead, Chief of Staff, Executive Assistant or similar role.
  • Experience operating within a digital, technology or transformation-focused environment.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership teams across multiple locations, cultures or time zones.
  • Ability to build extensive networks and use influence to align stakeholders around common goals.
  • Experience preparing executive briefings, leadership presentations and board-level communications.
  • Knowledge of governance, operational reporting, business planning and organisational performance management.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, AI-enabled ways of working and digital transformation.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience supporting strategic decision-making.
