Job Description

Who are we?

At Brit, we believe that the uncertainty of the future should never stand in the way of progress. That’s why we exist. To help people and businesses face the future and thrive. We are change-makers enabled by a global workforce who collaborate to deliver a risk service. A team empowered to help our customers not only to survive the risks they face, but to stay on the front foot and keep moving forward. We believe the uncertainty of tomorrow isn’t something to fear but to seize; that it’s full of potential. Not only for our customers but our employees too.

We might write the future of risk for our brokers and clients, but we would love to help you write your future at Brit: a future based on not just progressing but on thriving – both professionally and emotionally. If you’re looking for a place to make a real difference, read on.
What you will be working on
You’ll support the Head of Analytics Engineering to develop and execute the team’s strategy, enabling the Actuarial team’s analytical capability development.
Also, you’ll be optimising the efficiency through data automation and the use of emerging technologies.
You’ll establish the role of Senior Analytics Engineer as a key point of contact within the team for the wider organisation, and as a support and guide for the development of the Analytics Engineers.
We’ll encourage you to challenge the status quo of Analysis & Design within Actuarial and propose suitable alternatives.
About you
This is a great opportunity for someone that is strategically minded, as this role will support the Head of AE in strategic planning and quarterly objective setting.
You’ll have a pragmatic approach and introduce these solutions to current business challenges using previous experience within the industry; recommending ways to improve data efficiency and reliability.
This opportunity will require someone with interpersonal skills that can also lead engineering engagement with Actuarial SMEs and Underwriters, whilst collaborating with non-technical colleagues with compelling arguments for best-practice technical design.
As well as mentoring Analytics Engineering team members to develop and maintain end-to-end ETL processes.
As this role needs to maintain a high level of coding and technical standards across the team, you’ll need to demonstrate a high level of technical capability in Python, SQL, and JSON.
We value continuous learning & exploration, encouraging you to constantly learn and the team to evolve by taking advantage of the best-in-class technology and tooling. We’ll support you with your development needs, whether it be Python, Python, SQL, or JSON
You’ll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge while being supported by the wider function helping you develop in your career, to support development of portfolio optimisation algorithms, or presentation skills training to help you maximise the impact of the work that you do.
If you have the drive to work in a flexible, fun and passionate actuarial team we would love to hear from you!

Our culture

This opportunity comes along with a competitive salary, 27 days annual leave, optional private medical insurance, on target bonus and strong employer’s contributory pension, plus many more benefits. We also operate in a hybrid working capacity meaning you can collaborate in the London office as well as enjoy the ability to work from home.

Inclusion & Diversity is at the heart of our business at BRIT. We recognise that diversity in age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, thought, and social background bring richness to our working environment. No matter who you are, where you’re from, how you think, or who you love, we believe you should be you.
You’ll get a highly competitive remuneration and benefits package. This is kept under constant review to make sure it stays relevant. We understand the power of saying thank you and take time to acknowledge and reward extraordinary effort by teams or individuals. If this sounds like a role and a culture that appeals to you, let us know.
