Job Description

We’re looking for a Head of Enterprise Risk Management

About Brit

At Brit, we believe that the uncertainty of the future should never stand in the way of progress. That’s why we exist. To help people and businesses face the future and thrive. We are change-makers enabled by a global workforce who collaborate to deliver a risk service. A team empowered to help our customers not only to survive the risks they face, but to stay on the front foot and keep moving forward. We believe the uncertainty of tomorrow isn’t something to fear but to seize; that it’s full of potential. Not only for our customers but our employees too.

We might write the future of risk for our brokers and clients, but we would love to help you write your future at Brit: a future based on not just progressing but on thriving – both professionally and emotionally. If you’re looking for a place to make a real difference read on.

What you’ll be doing

As Head of Enterprise Risk Management, you'll lead the implementation and continued development of Brit's Risk Management Framework across underwriting, reserving, investment and credit risk. Working closely with the Chief Risk Officer and Director of Risk, you'll make sure material risks are identified, reported, managed and mitigated in line with risk appetite. You'll also review and constructively challenge our strategy, portfolio management and risk appetite, with a particular focus on underwriting and investment.

In this role, you'll help ensure our risk policies and procedures remain aligned with regulatory requirements and emerging best practice, and build effective relationships with Lloyd's, the PRA and the BMA. You'll lead analysis of Brit's underwriting portfolio, outwards reinsurance programme and investment strategy, using rigorous actuarial and risk management insight to support decision making and constructive challenge. You'll also lead, motivate and develop a team of risk professionals and business unit risk partners, keeping enterprise risk management practical, collaborative and business facing.

We're looking for someone with senior insurance risk experience, strong knowledge of Solvency UK and the PRA and FCA regulatory environment, and the credibility to contribute to strategic discussions at Board level. An actuarial qualification or significant actuarial experience would be an advantage.

We welcome everyone wholeheartedly

We’ve got a truly diverse, genuinely inclusive work environment. We comfortably and confidently bring our whole selves to work, because we know we’ll be respected, valued and accepted whoever we are. Our Employee Resource groups are safe spaces for people to share their experiences, aspirations and suggestions about how we do things.
