Job Description

We’re looking for a Treaty Actuary

About Brit

At Brit, we believe that the uncertainty of the future should never stand in the way of progress. That’s why we exist: to help people and businesses face the future and thrive. We’re change-makers enabled by a global workforce who collaborate to deliver a risk service. A team empowered to help our customers not only survive the risks they face, but stay on the front foot and keep moving forward.

We believe the uncertainty of tomorrow isn’t something to fear but to seize; that it’s full of potential. Not only for our customers but for our employees too. We might write the future of risk for our brokers and clients, but we’d love to help you write your future at Brit: a future based on not just progressing but thriving both professionally and emotionally. If you’re looking for a place to make a real difference, read on.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be the go-to person for our Underwriting teams, providing expert actuarial insight across pricing, business planning, reserving and more. Your work will span both Property and Casualty business for Brit’s London syndicates and our Bermudian entity, Brit Re.

You’ll dive into pricing models, developing and maintaining them in line with underwriter priorities, and you’ll use your analytical skills to guide risk selection and improve portfolio performance. You’ll be hands-on with segmentation analysis, helping us spot trends and opportunities to optimise profitability and reduce volatility.

You’ll also play a key role in reserving, contributing to bi-annual studies and presenting your findings to senior management. And when it comes to insurance risk, you’ll support our Capital Modelling teams to make sure our internal models are robust and fit for purpose.

This is a role where you’ll have a real voice challenging, influencing and shaping decisions at underwriting committees and peer reviews. It’s about combining technical expertise with commercial awareness to deliver innovative solutions that make a tangible impact.

We welcome everyone wholeheartedly

We’ve got a truly diverse, genuinely inclusive work environment. We comfortably and confidently bring our whole selves to work, because we know we’ll be respected, valued and accepted whoever we are. Our Employee Resource Groups are safe spaces for people to share their experiences, aspirations and suggestions about how we do things.

Accessibility

We’re based in the Leadenhall Building on Leadenhall Street (EC3V 4AB), across floors 17, 18 and 39. All floors are accessible by lift, and building staff are on hand to help. We’re just a short walk from Liverpool Street, Bank, Fenchurch Street and Aldgate stations, and there are bus stops right outside. If you have any questions about accessibility, just ask.
