How You'll Make An Impact
We are seeking a Strategic Finance Lead to operate as an internal investment function for Boomi - owning how we evaluate, prioritize, and track the company’s most critical growth investments. This role is focused on investment decision-making and capital allocation, with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting owned by a separate FP&A team.
In this role, you will partner directly with senior leadership to drive capital allocation decisions across product, go-to-market, and other strategic initiatives. You will apply an investor mindset to assess trade-offs, underwrite key investments, and ensure capital is deployed against the highest-return opportunities.
This is a high-visibility role with exposure to executive leadership and company-wide strategic decisions. You will work at the intersection of finance, strategy, and operations - bringing analytical rigor, market perspective, and strong judgment to influence outcomes.
This role reports to the Senior Director of Strategic Finance.
What You'll Do
- Capital Allocation & Investment Underwriting
- Lead the evaluation and prioritization of strategic initiatives, applying rigorous financial analysis and judgment to inform capital allocation decisions
- Build investment cases, assess risk/return trade-offs, and partner with senior leaders to determine where to deploy resources for maximum impact
- Strategic Initiative Ownership & Performance Tracking
- Establish frameworks to track performance of key investments against expected returns
- Proactively identify risks and opportunities, and drive course-correction discussions with business leaders
- Company-Wide Financial Strategy & Valuation
- Own the linkage between strategic initiatives and the company’s multi-year financial model and valuation trajectory
- Translate operational decisions into long-term financial impact, ensuring alignment with company-wide priorities
- Executive & Investor-Level Communication
- Develop clear, compelling narratives for executive leadership that synthesize complex analyses into actionable insights
- Support investor-facing materials and strategic storytelling around growth, performance, and market positioning
- Market Intelligence & Benchmarking
- Maintain a strong point of view on the competitive landscape, SaaS market dynamics, and valuation trends
- Lead benchmarking efforts against peers to inform strategy, performance targets, and investment decisions
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner closely with leaders across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Strategy to shape and evaluate key business initiatives
- Act as a thought partner - not just an analyst - in driving strategic decisions
The Experience You Bring
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including experience in investment banking, private equity, equity research, or consulting
- Strong foundation in financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis
- Experience evaluating business performance and investment opportunities through an investor lens Ability to connect detailed analysis to big-picture strategic and financial outcomes Track record of influencing senior stakeholders through clear thinking, strong judgment, and executive presence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives from data
- High attention to detail combined with the ability to operate at a strategic level
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities
- Familiarity with SaaS business models, metrics, and valuation frameworks
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience in both financial services (IB/PE/ER) and a corporate operating role
- MBA or CFA
- Experience with tools such as FactSet, PitchBook, or Bloomberg
