Job Title : Cloud API Management Technical Consultant - GTO Shared Services – Bangalore, India
Job Profile : Principal Systems Development Engineer
Overview: This position is part of the GTO Shared Services team, providing specialized technical, strategic, and operational support to the Global Technical Sales Organization to drive a high-performing and scalable sales function. The role focuses on Cloud API Management (formerly Mashery) and broader API Management and Integration solutions. It supports the global sales team with opportunity qualification, solution architecture, technical demonstrations, and PoCs. Additionally, the role involves delivering pre-sales technical support, API strategy consulting, and enablement sessions to ensure Sales Engineers and stakeholders understand the value, capabilities, and best practices of Cloud API Management and APIM solutions within the broader integration ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and setup customer solutions, demonstrations, and Proof-of-Concepts to support technical sales for API Management (APIM) solutions, including Cloud API Management
- Act as a trusted advisor to Sales Engineers and Solutions leadership, providing technical expertise on API Management, integration, and cloud-native architectures.
- Assist sales teams in solution design and architecture for prospects and customers during the pre-sales cycle, ensuring optimal API and integration strategies.
- Conduct technical deep-dive sessions, workshops, and webinars to educate sales teams on Cloud API Management and APIM capabilities, best practices, and new features.
- Evangelize API-first strategies and help Sales Engineers articulate the value proposition of API Management solutions to customers.
- Develop and maintain presales technical assets, best practices, and reference architectures for API integration, security, and governance.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of APIM demo environments for presales engagements.
Required Skills & Experience:
- B.E./B.Tech degree (or equivalent).
- 10-15 years of overall work experience, ideally with 5 years hand-on experience working with API Services and/or API Management solutions such as Apigee, WS02, Mulesoft, or Kong.
- Proven experience in presales technical consulting, solution design, or architecture, ideally in API Management, Integration, or Cloud-Native Platforms.
- Strong technical expertise REST API Services best practices, including implementation, design, and distribution. Ideal candidates will also have some experience working with with non-REST services (SOAP, GraphQL, AsyncAPI, WSS), security best practices (OAuth, JWT, OIDC, Thread Protection), API monetization, and full lifecycle management.
- Experience with enterprise integration tools, ESB, middleware technologies, and protocols such as SOAP, REST, GraphQL, JMS, and WebSockets is nice to have.
- A strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, multi-platform deployments, and Kubernetes-based architectures—including HELM/YAML configurations for pod and container setups—with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and best practices for on-premises deployments, is a must
- Ability to engage with both technical and business stakeholders, translating complex technical solutions into business value.
- Experience in conducting technical enablement sessions for internal sales teams and external customers.
- Strong presentation, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer and sales engagements.
