Job Description

Role purpose

We are seeking an experienced Architect and Developer Manager to lead the design, development, and management of our FinTech ecosystem, encompassing both infrastructure and application or microservices. This role will oversee critical components within the Mobile Money ecosystem, such as API Management (APIGee), Event Streaming (Kafka), Databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle), Cloud Environments, Kubernetes Clusters, and ensure robust, scalable, and secure solutions for digital financial services.

Role Overview

The Architect and Developer Manager will define technical architecture, manage infrastructure, and lead development teams to deliver high-quality FinTech solutions. The role requires strong expertise in cloud technologies, container orchestration, API management, and microservices development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain technical architecture for FinTech platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
  • Design microservices-based solutions aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish API strategy and governance using APIGee.
  • Manage the development portal community and facilitate 3rd party integrations
  • Oversee Kafka clusters for real-time event streaming and messaging.
  • Manage PostgreSQL databases, ensuring performance optimization and data integrity.
  • Administer Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration for microservices deployment.
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure (On Prem/AWS/Azure/GCP) is optimized for cost, performance, and compliance.
  • Lead and mentor developers and architects in building secure, high-performance microservices or applications.
  • Drive DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation for faster delivery.
  • Implement best practices for security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance in FinTech.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies (AI, ML, Big Data) and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and team productivity.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years in software development and architecture, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in FinTech or the digital payments domain.
  • Strong knowledge of APIGee, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (On Prem/AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems.
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, or similar frameworks.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.) and containerization (Docker).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Certifications

  • Cloud Certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, or GCP equivalent).
  • Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
  • API Management Certifications (APIGee or similar).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Uptime and reliability of FinTech platform infrastructure.
  • Delivery of digital application, microservices within agreed timelines and quality standards.
