For Graduates the work is tailored to each project, with a clear focus on developing you into a confident, autonomous engineer. We’re invested in building your skills and setting you up for long-term success.

The Maritime Design and Engineering team draws on the combined strength of BMT and AMT, bringing together more than 40 years of experience across Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, and Combat Systems/C4I Engineering to meet growing industry demand.

  • Travel to undertake onsite ship inspections, test and trials in support of engineering projects; and
  • Represent BMT on a professional and technical basis with our Defence/Navy clients, with our customers within the defence Industry and with the broader Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and system supplier community.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

To be successful, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:

  • Degree in Naval Architecture.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Well-developed problem diagnosis and solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail; and
  • The motivation and drive to develop your technical capabilities within a highly supportive, multi-discipline engineering environment.

Due to the nature of the work, you must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance. The selection process for this role will include pre-employment screening including a Police Records Check.
