Our Maritime Design and Engineering team draws on the combined strength of BMT and AMT, bringing together more than 40 years of experience across Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, and Combat Systems/C4I Engineering to meet growing industry demand.

We are looking for Electrical Engineers who will graduate at the end of 2025, or who have already graduated to apply. Commencement date will be March 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Work on a diverse range of exciting projects, in support of a wide range of Australian and Regional Maritime programs, both for new construction (such as the current Royal Australian Navy Ship surface programs) and for sustaining and upgrading current ships of the RAN Fleet and for regional Navies.
More specifically you will:

  • Perform specialist electrical design and engineering in support of the integration of equipment and systems on naval vessels.
  • Provide electrical engineering support and guidance within a whole of ship design team environment involving all technical disciplines of Naval Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical and Combat Systems integration.
  • Undertake tasks such as engineering investigations, design concepts and Defence Material Supplier liaison; then take that all the way through to preliminary and detail design, production implementation and customer acceptance; and
  • Represent the company on a professional and technical basis for our Defence/Navy clients, other defence Industry customers and defence material and systems supplier community.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

To be successful, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Well-developed problem diagnosis and solving skills.
  • Show aptitude to be able to introduce yourself to a new software and use it.
  • Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail; and
  • The motivation and drive to develop your technical capabilities in a multi-discipline engineering environment within a highly supportive team.

Due to the nature of the work, you must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance. The selection process for this role will include pre-employment screening including a Police Records Check.
