Job Description

We are the people who give possibilities purpose

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

Job Description

About the role:

The Sr. Manager - Global Service Portfolio, MMS Dispensing is responsible for defining, managing, and optimizing the portfolio of services supporting the BD MMS Dispensing capital equipment platform and its global installed base. This role develops aftermarket service strategies and service offerings that maximize customer value, platform performance, equipment uptime, and business growth across the lifecycle of the installed systems. Working closely with service operations, product management, sales, marketing, finance, and regional teams, the role drives the development, commercialization, and ongoing performance of service offerings including service contracts, digital services, professional services, training, and other recurring service solutions. Success in this role requires experience supporting service businesses associated with medical devices, capital equipment, diagnostic instruments, automated healthcare technologies, or other installed-base platforms, with the ability to translate customer needs and installed base insights into scalable service offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the service portfolio strategy for an assigned BD platform, aligned with platform priorities, customer needs, installed base opportunities, and business growth goals.
  • Own the lifecycle of service offerings, including concept development, business case creation, launch, sustainment, optimization, and retirement.
  • Identify unmet customer needs and growth opportunities across the installed base of MMS Dispensing systems and translate them into differentiated aftermarket service offerings, service programs, maintenance solutions, digital capabilities, and lifecycle services.
  • Partner with service operations, platform product management, commercial teams, finance, and regional stakeholders to develop and execute service portfolio roadmaps.
  • Develop business cases and commercialization plans for new and enhanced service offerings, including value proposition, pricing, attach strategy, and revenue potential.
  • Analyze service portfolio performance using metrics such as service revenue, margin, attach rate, renewal, utilization, and customer adoption to guide decisions and improvements.
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive aftermarket service models, equipment lifecycle management practices, customer workflows, and installed-base support requirements to identify opportunities for portfolio differentiation.
  • Support the creation of scalable global service offerings while partnering with regions to adapt for local market needs where appropriate.
  • Partner with regional commercial, marketing, and service teams to enable effective positioning, commercialization, and adoption of the service portfolio within local markets, providing value propositions, messaging, sales enablement tools, training, and launch support to drive growth and customer value.
  • Lead cross-functional governance for service portfolio decisions, ensuring alignment on priorities, trade-offs, and roadmap investments.
  • Communicate service portfolio strategy, performance, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you should have strong experience developing and managing service offerings, ideally within the MedTech industry. You should be able to identify customer needs, analyze market opportunities, and translate business priorities into scalable service solutions that drive customer value and business growth.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience experience in service portfolio management, product management, aftermarket services, strategic marketing, or related roles supporting capital equipment, medical devices, diagnostic instruments, laboratory automation, automated dispensing systems, or healthcare technology platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience managing service portfolios, aftermarket services, or service offerings associated with capital equipment or installed-base technologies, including service lifecycle management, commercialization, maintenance programs, customer support solutions, and portfolio performance optimization.
  • Strong understanding of recurring service models, service contracts, digital and professional services, installed base strategy, and service business economics.
  • Experience developing business cases, pricing strategies, and go-to-market approaches for service offerings.
  • Ability to synthesize customer, market, operational, and financial insights into actionable portfolio recommendations.
  • Proven ability to influence and align cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment, including service, sales, marketing, finance, and platform/product stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in international and cross-cultural environments, collaborating across regions, functions, and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using service performance metrics to drive portfolio decisions and growth actions.

Preferred Attributes:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Preferred experience in regulated medical device or healthcare technology environments
