Job Description

We are the people who give possibilities purpose

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

Job Description

Summary:

The Associate Director, Digital Business Partner will serve as the senior technology advisor and strategic business-facing partner for the Medical Essentials segment, including Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) and Specimen Management (SM). Reporting within Technology and Digital Solutions (TDS), this role will partner with segment leadership to develop and complete a forward-looking digital strategy. It aims to accelerate growth, operational excellence, product innovation, customer value, quality, and compliance.

The successful candidate will translate emerging capabilities—including Artificial Intelligence, Data & Analytics, Digital Platforms, Automation, Connected Solutions, and Cloud Technologies—into practical business outcomes. As a trusted advisor, this leader will identify chances to modernize processes and unlock data-driven insights. They will improve customer and associate experiences and build competitive advantage through scalable digital solutions.

Beyond portfolio management and demand intake, this role involves acting as a technology evangelist and change leader, helping collaborators prioritize, adopt, and realize value from new capabilities. The leader will connect business strategy with enterprise technology capabilities, influence investment decisions, and mobilize cross-functional teams to deliver measurable transformation across a complex, regulated global medical technology environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Medical Essentials leaders across MDS and SM to translate business strategy, operational priorities, customer needs, and value drivers into clear digital priorities, while serving as the primary TDS business partner for assigned stakeholders.
  • Shape and maintain integrated digital roadmaps that convert segment priorities into technology initiatives, investment cases, requirements, delivery plans, and measurable value outcomes.
  • Identify and advance high-value digital opportunities by connecting business pain points to scalable capabilities, including automation, AI-enabled insights, connected data products, workflow optimization, self-service analytics, and modern platforms
  • Partner with product, platform, architecture, cyber, data, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are scalable, sustainable, secure, compliant, integrated, and aligned with enterprise roadmaps and standards
  • Lead demand intake, prioritization, portfolio transparency, and governance support by providing clear technology perspectives, tradeoffs, recommendations, business value, risk, and resource implications to inform decisions.
  • Oversee execution of approved programs and projects, including stakeholder alignment, delivery coordination, communication, change management, risk escalation, adoption, continuous improvement, and value realization
  • Promote a product-model mindset and integrated ways of working across business, TDS, and external partners to reduce silos and improve speed, quality, accountability, and adoption of digital capabilities across essential healthcare product portfolios.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of experience in IT business partnering digital transformation, technology delivery, product management, business relationship management, or related technology leadership roles
  • Demonstrated experience translating business strategy into digital roadmaps, investment priorities, technology initiatives, and measurable business outcomes
  • Experience delivering technology solutions in medical devices, pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, or similarly regulated environments, with working knowledge of SDLC, validation, data integrity, security, privacy, cGxP, and 21 CFR Part 11 expectations
  • Strong understanding of core business processes and digital capabilities across commercial, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, R&D, and data domains.
  • Strong program, portfolio, and stakeholder management skills, including prioritization, risk management, executive communication, and influencing without direct authority in a matrixed environment
  • Experience shaping digital transformation strategies across data, analytics, automation, AI, workflow digitization, and modern platforms that improve performance, customer experience, productivity, or regulated process efficiency
  • Based in a daily commutable distance to our Franklin Lakes location

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms across commercial, supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, quality, regulatory, and data domains
  • Familiarity with product-based delivery models, Agile/Hybrid delivery, enterprise portfolio governance, global deployments, adoption, change management, and value realization
  • Strong understanding of process excellence, continuous improvement, enterprise capability scaling, and balancing enterprise standards with segment-specific needs
