Role Description:
Reporting to the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) Program Test and Commissioning (T&C) Manager, the T&C Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a team of T&C engineers, specialists and technical officers, providing engineering governance and assurance to enable safe, compliant and effective execution of Test, Set to Work, Commissioning, Trials and Maintenance activities across the program.
The T&C Engineering Manager is accountable for engineering governance across the T&C organisation, ensuring that engineering delegations required by the program are appropriately assigned within the team and exercised in accordance with Chief Engineer approvals, program controls and regulatory obligations.
Core Duties:
- Provide engineering governance and technical assurance across Test, Set to Work, Commissioning, Trials and Maintenance activities, including leadership of key engineering review forums.
- Own the integrity and approval of T&C engineering documentation and readiness artefacts to enable safe and effective commissioning and trials execution.
- Provide engineering oversight across the full T&C lifecycle, from prototyping and factory acceptance through to harbour and sea trials.
- Lead the T&C Engineering team in managing engineering change, defect resolution and supplier engagement to support delivery outcomes.
- Maintain capability, systems and processes within the T&C Engineering team to support safe, compliant and high‑quality delivery.
- Support delivery of T&C strategies and plans, working across Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to support delivery outcomes.
KEY CRITERIA:
- Engineering leadership experience is considered highly desirable
- Experience in the Defence/ Maritime sector is considered advantageous
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering is considered mandatory
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1 clearance
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
