Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Publications Author to join the Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) on a permanent, full-time basis.

This role offers flexibility in location and can be based in Melbourne, Adelaide, Cairns, or Brisbane. We encourage applications from candidates across these locations, as well as suitably qualified individuals based elsewhere, who bring the right experience and skill set.

As part of a geographically diverse team of Technical Publications Authors and Illustrators, you will contribute across all aspects of Maritime Technical Publications. You will be responsible for the development, preparation, and authoring of high-quality technical documentation, ensuring alignment with project procedures, standards, and work instructions.

Core Duties:

  • Analyse source data to support technical publication development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to gather and validate information
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation in accordance with relevant standards and specifications
  • Collaborate with team members on site and remote locations to ensure effective outcomes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes and outputs

About You

  • Diploma or formal qualification in Technical Writing, or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven experience in technical writing/authoring roles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Proficiency in authoring tools and Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with S1000D (highly desirable)
  • Experience in Maritime Technical Publications (highly desirable)
  • Ability to obtain clearance under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Eligibility to obtain a Foreign Work Authorisation (FWA)
