Role Description:

As the Subcontracts Officer, you will be responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate contracting arrangements with subcontractors and suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business.

Core Duties:

  • Support the Program or Business in leading supplier negotiations, finalise supplier agreements and purchase orders and adhere to contractual obligations through effective commercial management including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow and flow down of contract amendments
  • Effectively manage allocated tasks and small projects to achieve value for money for the program or business whilst minimising risk relating to cost, schedule, quality and safety
  • Perform annual Regional Supply Assessment ensuring understanding of regions skills, infrastructure, knowledge and systems and determine training and development plans.
  • Collate and manage subcontractor performance requirements for the Combined Services Review
  • Effectively administer and monitor variations to the subcontracts, including the drafting of commercial/subcontract related notices as required
  • Proactively manage the performance of suppliers and subcontractors to achieve the requirements of the contract from a schedule, cost and quality perspective, managing risks, identifying opportunities, developing and embedding the relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and strategic performance measures

About You:

  • Ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside their immediate team, to implement project/ business requirements
  • Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under their own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
  • An ability to develop strong working relationships with suppliers, their supply chains and internal stakeholders is required
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer, project and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of different audiences is critical to this role
  • Good commercial skills and business acumen with a proven capability in contract negotiation
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Computer literacy, with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite.
  • As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances
