Role Description

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for designing innovative technology solutions that drive real business outcomes? We are seeking an experienced end-to-end Solution Architect with a strong passion for solving complex business challenges using technology, leading architectural modernisation, defining technology direction, and working in close partnership with business and technology teams.

As a Solution Architect, you’ll proactively and holistically guide the development and management of enterprise solutions. You’ll work across business capabilities, value streams, and processes to ensure technology solutions align with strategic goals and architectural standards.

You’ll be instrumental in translating business strategy into architectural blueprints, leading solution design, architecture roadmap and analysis, orchestrating delivery, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.

The job location is flexible, it can be Melbourne, NSW or SA based. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

Core Duties:

  • Works closely with the business stakeholders and product owners to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product lifecycle
  • Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work
  • Analyse industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities and provide architectural deliverables to support governance and investment decisions.
  • Lead the solution design and evaluation of solution architectures across applications and technologies.
  • Creates reference architectures and contextual designs focused on detailed design principles, decision points, detailed APIs, major systems and dependencies between business and IT
  • Develop a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise capabilities application portfolio from current to future state (as defined by the solutions architecture)
  • Define principles, standards, and patterns to ensure architectural compliance
  • Support product lifecycle decisions including maintenance, refresh, and retirement

About YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in solution architecture within complex enterprise environments
  • Experience designing solutions with on-premises and cloud across diverse technologies and platforms
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and product management practices.
  • Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps.
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams with passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1
