About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) Delivery team based at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, South Australia.

Reporting to the HCF Program Integration Manager, the Project Manager – Ship 1 will be responsible for maintaining a credible, integrated and executable Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) and (CMS) for Ship 1. The role acts as the single point of contact and integration lead for all Ship 1 matters across the System Integration, Supply Chain and Operations IPTs.

Ensuring that scope, schedule, cost, risk and readiness are aligned and controlled. The role is a dotted line to the Ship 1 Manager and Manufacturing Delivery Manager, representing across program forums and integrated delivery activities, ensuring the QLA 12-week forward plan is credible, resourced, and executable.

The role holds delegated authority for Ship 1 iQLA activities, coordinating inputs, decisions, and actions to ensure governance, decision rights, and delivery accountability are clearly owned and executed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, develop, monitor and control an integrated HCF Ship 1 QLA
  • Lead and manage the Ship 1 QLA as the primary integrated delivery mechanism, ensuring commitments are credible, resourced, and executable.
  • Drive alignment with Integration IPT Managers to establish a single credible Ship 1 QLA plan
  • Collate and set the Ship 1 Critical Success Factors and identify any dependencies across all IPTs (Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations), ensuring a single aligned set of delivery priorities.
  • Drive weekly QLA performance, resolving conflicts and emergent issues to protect schedule, cost, risk and readiness outcomes.
  • Represent the Ship 1 Manager across delivery and governance forums, owning the credibility of the 12-week forward plan.
  • Developing Program Early Warning Signals, supporting KPIs and play lead role in mitigating future risks and challenges that surface
  • Understanding delivery performance of Ship 1 and its integrated impacts on the HCF Program at Level 0 / Level 1
  • As directed by the SCAM (Ship 1 Manager), actively manage the Ship 1 schedule (CMS) to ensure accuracy, integrity and delivery alignment.
  • Leading and undertaking What if scenarios and options for decision making on forward plan (risk mitigation) related to Ship 1

About YOU

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Project Management (desirable)
  • Significant experience in Project Management.
  • Ability to problem solve and work autonomously to deliver outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate strategy/purpose and link to objectives and project deliverables.
  • Proven ability to negotiate with and influence internal and / or external stakeholders in a way which generates project / program benefit whilst maintaining key relationships.
  • Proven ability to think innovatively and to plan strategically.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of different audiences.
  • Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables.
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
