About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Maritime Certification Engineer to join our Hunter Class Frigate program based at our state-of-the-art shipyard in Osborne, SA, reporting to the Certification Lead.

You will be working to meet business and customer requirements from a Certification perspective for the Whole of Ship.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of activities and processes to ensure the Whole of Ship Design, Build and Classification Certifications are achieved.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of project Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to support Whole of Ship Design and Build Classification, and Statutory based Certification.
  • Be the project liaison for activities between the Classification Society and internal/ external stakeholders.
  • Ensure Classification Society deliverables including Statutory / regulatory based Certifications align with the needs of Design and Build Certification and customer requirements.
  • Ensure the Certification and Classification approach remains consistent with the relevant program plans.
  • Coordinate and liaise with project engineering delivery teams to ensure that Supplier Certification deliverables and tasks support the progression of Whole of Ship Design, Build, and Classification Certification

About YOU

  • Holder of an Engineering Degree or Diploma in relevant field along with trade experience
  • Demonstrated experience executing Safety Programs or Quality Assurance in a large organisation or conducting audits as a Certification Engineer
  • Background and experience in Maritime Systems or Shipyard Operations will be advantageous
  • Relevant WHS and/or project management qualifications would be desirable
  • The ability to demonstrate initiative and be self-motivated
  • Excellent communication skills, as you will be liaising both verbally and in writing to various stakeholder groups
  • Background and experience in a Defence or Maritime setting will be advantageous but not mandatory
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain,
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
