Role Description

As a Senior Systems Administrator within the End User Services division of Enterprise Services, you will serve as a key Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all technologies that support our users and their endpoints. You’ll take ownership of the support, sustainment, and delivery of core services across Windows Operating Systems (including selected servers), Microsoft Configuration Manager, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, and related platforms.

You’ll play a critical role in resolving complex issues, driving service improvements, and ensuring a seamless end user experience. Working within ITIL frameworks, you’ll lead escalations, perform root cause analysis, and provide expert guidance to both technical peers and business stakeholders.

This role also partners closely with Systems Architects, Infrastructure Operations Leaders, and Cyber Security teams to influence design decisions and uplift the maturity of end user computing services. As a senior member of the team, you will mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

Core Duties:

  • Service Design & Implementation: Provide SME input into architecture and design for Windows, mobility, and virtualised platforms. Configure and implement services, servers, and supporting systems aligned to organisational needs.
  • Windows System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows endpoints. Monitor performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure a high quality end user experience.
  • Security & Compliance: Apply security best practices, manage updates, patches, and upgrades, and ensure systems remain compliant with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Endpoint Hardware & Peripheral Management: Own the approved hardware catalogue for Windows endpoints, mobility devices, and peripherals. Maintain lifecycle roadmaps and oversee model transitions.
  • Scripting & Automation: Develop and maintain automation solutions (e.g., MECM task sequences, PowerShell scripts) to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
  • Software & Configuration Management: Oversee software deployment, configuration baselines, and update management using MECM and Intune. Ensure endpoints remain compliant and optimised.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with cross functional teams to deliver business outcomes and provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting & Support: Lead incident diagnosis, resolution, and root cause analysis for complex technical issues

About YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in end user computing, including endpoint management, virtual desktops, MDM, and SCCM/MECM.
  • Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and associated technologies.
  • Expertise in endpoint configuration and management using modern MDM platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud environments, ideally Azure.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as SCCM, Intune, or WS1.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance.
