Job Description:

This role provides strategic leadership to a high‑performing team of 25 professionals, ranging from seasoned experts to graduates. As the senior leader, you will set direction, build capability, and foster a culture of excellence across a diverse and motivated workforce. You will directly lead two senior executive‑grade leaders and their teams, who together oversee a portfolio of high‑value, high‑impact contracts central to our critical national endeavour.

Core duties:

  • Leading and managing a team of Supply Chain and Quantity Surveyor professionals in the delivery of contract management activities covering all elements of Boat Support Services (BSS)
  • Designing and delivering market leading Category Strategies for BSS contracting arrangements
  • Leading drafting, formation and execution of new contracts in unlocking further value for our business and our customer
  • Representing Supply Chain in providing problem solving solution and appropriate challenge to a multi-disciplinary project team
  • Developing and challenging functional processes, people management and development of our profession

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in contract management, ideally in heavy industry or large major subcontracts, commercial contract management and negotiation
  • A proven track record in Category Management design and delivery through understanding customer and programme needs and translating them into market tested, value driven outcomes
  • Demonstrable experience in contract formation and management, including contract change management, management of contractor performance, dispute resolution and business governance systems (e.g. Prompt Payment Code adherence)
  • A track record of leading and developing high performing teams, embedding a positive working culture that embraces diversity of ideas and our people whilst nurturing and developing talent
  • MCIPS or MRICS or equivalent professional qualification and / or experience

The Boat Support Services (Supply Chain) Team:

Leading a team of experienced Supply Chain professionals your role will be to deliver outstanding contracting strategies, their management and the Supply Chain relationship with the Submarine teams. This role is responsible for critical elements of the Submarine build requirement and offers a fantastic opportunity to delivery high value outcomes for our programme, our customer and the Royal Navy We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
