What you will be doing:

In this role, you will support the development and optimisation of submarine build strategies within the SSNA programme, while integrating learning and best practice from Dreadnought and Astute programmes. You will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Projects and Engineering teams to ensure designs are deliverable, manufacturable, and aligned to build objectives.

Core duties:

  • Liaise with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Projects, Supply Chain to resolve issues arising during Design
  • Apply problem-solving tools and techniques during the design phases from PFMEA to design for manufacture
  • Capture lessons from build activities and integrate them into system design and build strategy to prevent recurrence

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum HNC or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and CAD models
  • Experience and understanding of system design and build
  • Experience engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve engineering/planning issues
  • Familiarity with SAP / Teamcenter
  • Understanding of submarine build strategy

The SSNA Manufacturing Team:

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer within the Build Strategy team, you will play a key role in supporting the SSNA programme while drawing on experience and learning from the Dreadnought and Astute programmes where required. This role offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders and senior leaders, ensuring Manufacturing has a strong voice within the Design community and enabling designs to be built in the most effective and efficient way possible. You will gain valuable exposure to major defence programmes and complex engineering challenges while building a long-term career within BAE Systems. Relocation support packages are available across all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
