Who we are:

Join BAE Systems and you’ll be part of something bigger. As a valued member of our global colleague network, you’ll bring your unique skills and perspectives to help pioneer progress and protect what matters most. You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow, shaping a safer future, for all of us.

From the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.

Role description:

This role is a key part of the team delivering the next generation of CAD capabilities for Naval Ship design and manufacturing. You will help define and improve engineering processes, support the implementation of new digital tools, and ensure that design data can be used efficiently across Engineering and Manufacturing. Your work will have a direct impact on design quality, productivity, and the successful delivery of Naval Ship programmes, while helping the wider business move towards more connected and efficient ways of working.

Core duties:

  • Drive the development and improvement of CAD processes for Naval Ship 3D modelling and engineering outputs.
  • Support the integration of CAD, PLM, and ERP systems to create efficient and connected engineering workflows.
  • Provide training, user support, and technical guidance on CAD modelling, outputs, and best practices.
  • Lead testing and validation activities to ensure CAD solutions meet business and technical requirements.
  • Support the implementation of new CAD tools and processes, including evaluation, testing, documentation, deployment, and user adoption.
  • Support manufacturing activities through the creation and maintenance of NC programs for plate and profile production

Essential skills:

  • Strong CAD knowledge and experience in 3D modelling, engineering drawings, and production outputs, preferably within shipbuilding and specifically using FORAN Structural modules (FHULL, FNEST, FHINFO, FBUILDS and FDESIGN) and/or Siemens NX.
  • Good understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, and how design information is managed throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to develop, document, and improve engineering processes, standards, user guides, and best practice procedures.
  • Understanding of NC programming and manufacturing principles for plate and profile production

The PLM Capability Centre Structure team:

You will be joining a small, highly collaborative team where every member plays an important role and has the opportunity to make a real difference. The team works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and external suppliers to deliver practical solutions that support the design and construction of Naval Ships. This is an exciting time to join, as you will be directly involved in the implementation of a new CAD solution and the transition from the current toolset. You will have the opportunity to influence how the new system is configured, tested, deployed, and adopted by users across the business. This is a unique chance to help shape the future design environment for Naval Ships and contribute to a major digital transformation programme.
