Job Description

Job Title: SAP ABAP PI/PO DevOps Engineer

Location: Preston or Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Circa £55,000 dependent on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing, configuration and development and supporting the customised and standard PI/PO integrations, Odata services and integration components (PI adapter Engine, IDOC, JDBC, SOAP) and their integration with the end-to-end solution
  • Designing, developing, and implementing customised and standard ABAP, User Exit, BADIs and integration components
  • Design and develop integration solutions using SAP PI/PO, Configure and customize SAP PI/PO as per the technical requirements, in collaboration with architects and engineers, creating and maintaining technical documentation for all integration solutions
  • Accountable for the quality of the design, assessment of risk, and delivery of the components
  • An active contributor in the DevOps team, supporting the application, resolving incidents/problems, reducing technical debt and developing new features to help enable the business through ERP
  • Working with peers, business stakeholders and Product Leads by helping refine the requirements and translating them into Fiori and ABAP functional and technical designs

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Development and customisation of PI/PO integrations within SAP ECC 6 & S4 HANA
  • Experienced with ABAP development within SAP ECC 6 & S4 HANA
  • Working knowledge of the following; OOP ABAP, SAP UI5, SAP Gateway, OData services, Core Data Services (CDS)
  • Experience in supporting users, defining new features and functionality, and implementing change

Desirable

  • Fluent in process frameworks like ITIL, Prince2 and Agile and have a good understanding of an efficient Software Development Lifecycle
  • Relevant IT degree or business degree such as Computer Science or similar

The SAP DevOps team:

The SAP DevOps team sits within the Finance Portfolio team supporting a range of applications used by the business to support finance operations. The DevOps team is divided into three squads, one of which is focuses on supporting Shared Services SAP. We operate using Agile principles and manage work in two weekly sprints in 13 week PI cycles. We support BAU as well as delivery of changes requested by the business, which are triaged and refined by the Product Leads within our wider Finance team. We follow principles of continuous improvement and look for opportunities to refine processes and drive down incident problems through process improvements and RCA where possible. Our aim is to deliver maximum value to the business.
