About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Reliability Engineering Analyst to join the Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) based at either Osborne, Adelaide or Melbourne CBD locations. There is also the flexibility for the position to be performed at other interstate locations.

Reporting to the Availability, Reliability, and Maintainability (ARM) Manager, you will be in integral member of the ARM team which in-turn is part of the wider Support System team. You will be employed on a permanent full time basis, however a permanent part-time basis at 0.8 Full Time Equivalent will also be considered.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

BAE Systems Maritime Australia (formerly known as ASC Shipbuilding), has been contracted to design and deliver the world’s most advanced anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Royal Australian Navy. The Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs across BAE Systems and the wider Australian Defence supply chain over the life of the program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collate, review and validate the Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) source data provided by suppliers to the program
  • Analyse the ship systems/equipment to determine how failures and maintenance activities impact its ability to function
  • Perform applied systems engineering activities, delivering a suite of capabilities that enable the mission system (product) to operate for longer with higher availability as it enters into sustainment
  • Collaborate and build good relationships with a range of stakeholders including design engineers, suppliers, and logistic engineers on the management of reliability engineering activities
  • Perform the Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) analysis and modelling for mission and support systems
  • Review outputs from logistic support engineering analysis activities including Failure Mode Effects and Critical Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) and Provisioning
  • Draw conclusions and propose recommendations to improve equipment/system reliability and supportability through your analysis and available evidence

About YOU

  • Reliability engineering analysis experience or experience within a support systems/Integrated Product Support (IPS) environment – Candidates that have other engineering or manufacturing experience with a view to gaining experience in IPS will also be considered
  • Good analytical skills, the ability to analyse technical data and provide sound recommendations
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to present to customers , and the ability to work effectively autonomously and in a large team environment
  • Strong computer and data manipulation skills, good attention to detail, and self-driven
  • Whilst not essential, a tertiary engineering degree or naval ship industry experience, will be highly regarded
