Role Description:

The Project Controls – Planning Manager (PCPM) is responsible for leading the proper use of the company Earned Value Management (EVM) System so that the project management team can adequately monitor and report on project cost, schedule progress and risk status. The PCPM leads a group of people to perform this function at either program, portfolio or project level. In the conduct of assigned duties, the PCPM must maintain the goodwill of the Customer and company management, by ensuring that our established EVM processes are carried out to report and manage the project with timely, accurate EVM data

Core Duties:

  • Manage the project team to establish the initial cost & schedule baseline
  • Provide expert assistance in the use of cost & schedule tools (Open Plan / Primavera / Microsoft Project, and Cobra) to Enter all baseline data into the cost and schedule tools, and manage the project team to use scheduling tools where required
  • Provide EVM project reporting and analysis data to the project team on a monthly basis
  • Manages staff responsible for the administration of invoicing, foreign exchange, economic price variation (escalation), and Australian Industry Involvement reporting & bank guarantees
  • Assist the Project Management Function with gaining and maintaining any Cost Schedule Control Systems Criteria (CSCSC) validation or project Cost Schedule Status Reporting (CSSR) accreditations
  • Functional responsibility for the performance, career development and mentoring of other Project Controllers

Essential Skills:

  • Proven performance at a similar level or demonstrated prior experience and demonstrable competence, or demonstrated proven performance and progression as a SPC
  • Prior experience leading a team
  • Demonstrated schedule experience and demonstrated cost experience is essential
  • Ability to use several analytical techniques to break apart complex problems into component parts
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
