Production Support Officer

Role Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Support Officer to join our JORN line of business based Alice Springs region-NT, reporting to the Site Lead.
You will be responsible for assisting in the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety activities and initiatives. You will support compliance with WHS legislation and BAE Safety processes, ensuring that safety procedures are consistently applied across all activities.
You will promote a culture of safety aligned with BAE’s Life Saving Rules and organisational values and behaviours. You will provide safety support to the site and may be required to travel for short-term assignments to other manned sites or to support upgrade and maintenance work at remote Sounder & Transponder (S&T) sites across northern Australia.
You will contribute to the evaluation of safety risks, assist with incident reporting and investigations, and support the implementation of corrective actions. You will also provide guidance and advice to teams to ensure all safety-related processes and procedures are effectively followed.
Core Duties:
- Provide guidance, coordination, and oversight of personnel and contractors for high-risk or critical production activities, including the review of SWMS, JHA/JSEA, and safety documentation.
- Deliver and manage site inductions for employees, contractors, and visitors, maintaining accurate induction records and approvals.
- Support the Technical Services function, including training delivery (first aid, driver, safety), equipment compliance, and statutory register management.
- Coordinate pre-work checks, site chemical requirements, PPE, and contractor qualifications to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Conduct and support workplace safety activities, including safety audits, hazard identification, incident reporting, Bowtie health checks, and safety walk-arounds.
- Assist in emergency preparedness planning, safety drills, and SHE incident/hazard investigations, supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Maintain and update site safety documentation, risk assessments, hazard registers, and maintenance records within the BAE MMS.
- Represent the safety function at meetings, support visible safety leadership activities, and promote a culture of safety aligned with BAE Life Saving Rules and organisational values.
Essential Skills:
- Certificate 4 in Work, Health and Safety.
- Experience supporting workplace health, safety, and environmental (SHE) activities, ideally in remote operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
- Knowledge of Fire Warden responsibilities and Defence Fuel Installation permit requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively.
- Excellent administrative skills, including data management, reporting, and spreadsheet proficiency.
