Salary: Circa £65,000- £70,000 dependent on experience (plus bonus and car allowance)

Job Description:

As a Procurement Manager, you’ll join a team of six Procurement Managers reporting to the Procurement Director (with two roles reporting via the Head of Procurement). The Procurement function is responsible for managing all direct spend for the Electronic Systems site, working with a global supplier base of 170–200 partners.

This position offers excellent exposure to senior stakeholders across both functional and product line areas, giving you the opportunity to build and strengthen relationships with key strategic suppliers. You will play a pivotal role in shaping procurement strategy, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and enhancing processes to deliver greater efficiency and value.

Core duties:

  • Lead and develop a team of supply chain professionals, driving performance, capability growth, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee a significant supplier base and material spend, managing key subcontractors and strategic partners to meet programme requirements
  • Contribute as a key member of the Procurement Management team, delivering both tactical execution and long-term strategic objectives
  • Develop and implement category and product line strategies to optimise cost, performance, and supplier capability, delivering measurable savings
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and strategic suppliers, working cross-functionally across sites to achieve business goals
  • Drive supply chain performance and efficiency through data-led insights, process optimisation, and the effective use of technology

Essential Skills:

  • Extensive Supply Chain experience
  • Proven customer management skills
  • Team leading/ management experience
  • MCIPS Qualified and / or relevant experience
  • Similar industry/ technical/ manufacturing experience

The Procurement Team:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a business-facing Procurement team of approximately 10 professionals, including an Assistant Procurement Manager. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow Procurement Managers, Product Line Directors, functional leaders, the Site Leadership Team, as well as UK and US procurement colleagues, ensuring strong alignment across the organisation.

Rochester is a diverse organisation with a global customer base producing commercial and defence electronics for high integrity controls, active inceptor systems, head-up displays, head-mounted displays, power and propulsion systems as well as an avionics market service centre. We operate across the entire product lifecycle from cutting edge research to aftermarket support and have suppliers in Europe, USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Japan, Sri Lanka as well as across the UK.

We are experiencing significant growth with the work we are winning either critical to our national interest and security or essential to our business performance. As a result, the company is investing in our business with an extensive refurbishment of the whole site including a new 20,000m² factory with demolition work underway.
