Job Title: Principal Integration Engineer – Trials Co-ordinator

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow.

Salary: Circa £60,000 depending on experience and qualifications

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing and managing the Type 26 Combat Systems Trials programme to include the Acceptance, Assurance and Integration trials and de-risking activities for Land-Based Integration Facility and ships
  • Implementing and co-ordinating activities to achieve the Trials programme that will include the allocation of personnel & resources, booking of equipment assets, achieving the required test environment, coordinating relevant stakeholders and meetings
  • Manipulating the Trials programme to ensure maximum use is made of the Type 26 Land-Based Integration Facility time allocation and with proactive engagement with the Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Service (NCSISS) Joint Project Office to maintain trial options for short notice planning or system availability changes
  • Developing the Combat Systems Integration Trials programme so that it dovetails with the Ship Build plan and is linked with the Land-Based Integration Facility Trials Plan to ensure delivery of Combat Systems capability / functionality to the ship at the right time
  • Working with the Integration Test and Trials (IT&T) Project Manager to include and monitor the Land-Based Integration Facility and First of Class (FOC) Integration Trials Programmes within the overall Type 26 Plan
  • Supporting the Type 26 Combat Systems Equipment (CSE) Delivery Managers and wider Type 26 Combat Systems Trials team through the provision of specialist engineering expertise as required
  • Using and assisting in the development of the Type 26 Combat Systems Trials Management, Observation Reporting and other Database toolsets

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement complex trials programmes, ensuring consideration of priorities, prerequisites, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement
  • Effective coordination skills to manage multiple concurrent activities while identifying and implementing solutions to support efficient execution
  • Experience in developing trial schedules, conducting trials, and analysing and reporting results to support informed decision-making
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly to management

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Combat System Equipment (CSE) used in maritime environments, with experience in system integration and trials
  • Experience utilising database-centric tools for planning, execution, and documentation of integration trials—preferably Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) and JIRA
  • Understanding of engineering standards and codes of practice, ensuring adherence to industry guidelines and best practices

Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline.

Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.

The Integration Test & Trials (IT&T) team:

Join our dynamic Integration Test and Trials team, shaping the Type 26 Combat System Integration Trials programme. As a Combat Systems Integration Trials Coordinator, you’ll drive installation, integration, and acceptance trials, working at the Land-Based Integration Facility (LBIF) before transitioning onboard in 2025, with exciting sea trial opportunities. You’ll collaborate across various UK based Naval Ships sites interacting with engineers, customers, and suppliers, reporting to the Engineering Manager for IT&T.
