Job title: Principal Engineer – Product Configuration and Change

Location: Glasgow, Bristol or Portsmouth; We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £60,100 dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Technical delivery of CSC (Canadian Surface Combatant) Configuration Management Capability. Co-ordinate implementation of appropriate business rules and controls for each phase of the product lifecycle and ensure required level of reporting is delivered for Configuration Management
  • Support the effective implementation of Configuration Management plans and policies within CSC program
  • Ensure CSC delivers its obligations under the EIA-649 by supporting baseline establishment of Functional, Allocated and Product Baseline
  • Develop the respective Configuration baselines in alignment with the design review strategy and sharing these baselines with the wider CSC project in a way that is accessible, intuitive and supports stakeholders requirements to allow them to perform their role
  • Working with the Whole-ship Configuration & Change teams to make a major contribution to a strategic view for Configuration Management on the project
  • Supporting Establishment of Product Baselines/Configuration Item Selection/Configuration BoMs, Reference Ship Design, Foran Ship Applicability, Model Lockdown and Design Separation

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Extensive product knowledge, across different disciplines including an understanding of the key interfaces between systems & sub systems
  • Extensive knowledge, and ideally a user, of product change and configuration management functions (Planning, Identification, Change Control, Status Accounting, Verification & Audit)
  • Have experience/knowledge of the key toolsets used across the project to implement Configuration/PLM particularly PTC’s Windchill, SENER’s FORAN and AVEVA ERM

Desirable:

  • Naval/Marine design experience – ideally Global Combat Systems
  • Integrated bill of materials (iBoM) and change management in Windchill knowledge

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Product Configuration and Change Team:

The role will play a critical role within the Canadian Frigate Program (CSC) Product Configuration & Change (PC&C) and wider team, bringing complex warship engineering product knowledge and experience to the Program. This will be the principal role in ensuring the contractual requirements are being satisfied through effective implementation of Product Configuration Management practices and processes. CSC is a long term Canadian Naval build project with cutting-edge technology, huge investment with great career and development opportunities.
