Job Description
Job title: Principal Engineer – IPMS Control Systems
Location: Glasgow, Bristol or Portsmouth

Salary: Up to £60,100 dependent of skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Know how to work with multiple levels of stakeholders to deliver all aspects of engineering deliverables through Functional design, Detail Design and Delivery
- Knowledge of engineering life cycle especially with regard to the achievement of project phase milestones
- Understand the relationship between activities in different phases of the engineering lifecycle
- Good understanding of project management concepts, principles and techniques
- Broad knowledge of how to proactively identify, manage and mitigate product safety issues across the product/service area
- Understanding of the supportability engineering process
- Support IPMS engineering management activities
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Relevant Engineering Degree
- Extensive experience in Stage 1 Design, within heavy Engineering
- Experience of working on large, complex projects in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Working knowledge of LCM processes & tools
- Working knowledge of Project Management reporting
- Experience of working on multi-tiered projects
- Stakeholder management experience
Desirable:
- Working towards CEng with a recognised institute
- Experience of working on Naval projects
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Integrated Platform Management System Team:
With 18 team members, the IPMS Team Engineering platform discipline, 18 team members. IPMS manages the requirements of the customer, developing the software solution and ensures that the delivered functionality meets the demands of the project.
Projects are CSC (Canadian Surface Combatant) for the Canadian government with its build yard in Canada and design team in the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a major design programme, development of career and professional registration.
