Job Description

Job Title: Principal Business Analyst

Location: Scotstoun. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Up to £63,000 Dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead business analysis across transformation programmes, ensuring clear, unambiguous requirements and alignment between business and technical stakeholders
  • Provide strategic insight, recommendations and thought leadership to support decision making, solution design and project governance
  • Collaborate with architects to ensure solutions fully reflect validated business needs and deliver intended benefits
  • Plan, estimate and manage analysis activities, ensuring timely, high quality outputs across multiple projects
  • Support senior stakeholders with business case development and ensure alignment with organisational strategy
  • Manage and develop the Business Analyst team, setting goals, reviewing performance, identifying training needs and fostering career growth
  • Prioritise, allocate and balance workloads effectively, supporting wellbeing and team efficiency, including recruitment of new team members

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in business analysis across complex projects and programmes
  • Demonstrable experience managing, coaching and leading Business Analysts
  • Considerable stakeholder engagement skills, including senior leadership interaction
  • Skilled in requirements engineering, business case development and process analysis
  • Ability to bridge business and technical perspectives effectively
  • Experience working within structured governance or architectural frameworks

Desirable:

  • Experience in IM&T, Engineering, Manufacturing, or other large, complex environments
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture approaches
  • Professional BA qualifications (BCS, IIBA etc)

The IM&T Business Analyst Team

Would you like to contribute to the future of IT within complex warships? We are seeking an experienced Principal Business Analyst to lead Business Analysis across major business and technical transformation programmes.

You will act as a senior change leader, working with stakeholders across the enterprise to shape, define and deliver solutions that create measurable value.

This role includes leadership of the Business Analyst team, responsibility for analytical quality and standards, and acting as a trusted interface between business and technical communities. You will also support the IM&T Chief Architect in defining the strategic direction of the Business Analysis function.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on the latest technologies which support the Royal Navy through involvement in National and International programmes.
