Job Description:

In this role, you will act as the main point of contact for the Munitions business on all security matters providing authoritative security leadership across all Munitions sites. You will report on and discuss security issues at relevant reviews with the Operations, SHE & Quality Director and Senior Site Operations Managers. You will also act as the point of call for all Munitions staff, with an ability to problem solve and add value to Munitions by providing business focussed pragmatic security advice.

Core Duties:

  • Lead security planning, assurance and operations for all programme and project activity
  • Conduct security risk assessments, assurance activities and reviews to identify threats, vulnerabilities and required mitigations
  • Ensure compliance with government and defence security standards (Industry Personnel Security Assurance (IPSA), Facility Security Cleared (FSC), UK GovS 007, National Protective Security Authority (NPSA)) and all contractual security obligations
  • Drive and promote security awareness activities for Munitions across all five sites and other locations as necessary
  • Identify improvements in local security processes, business management systems and operational practices
  • Produce Security Management Plans and manage Travel Risk Management for Munitions overseas operations where appropriate

Essential Skills:

  • You will have expert knowledge of physical, personnel and industrial security within defence or high‑assurance environments
  • You will have a good understanding of government and industry security policy including JSP 440, IPSA, UK GovS 007, NPSA guidance, FSC and DEFCON security clauses
  • You will have an understanding of threat intelligence, risk management methodologies and protective security control design
  • Knowledge of BAE Systems security policies, processes and governance requirements is desirable
  • An understanding of how programme, engineering, operations and supply chain functions interact within Munitions is preferred

The Security Department:

You will be joining a new role within an expanding team that is responsible for physical and technical security across Defence Solution’s sites. You will be providing subject matter expertise, guidance and support to the Munitions business, acting as a point of contact for various internal and external stakeholders, e.g. MOD or the Munitions LT. You will play a key role in maintaining accreditations, supporting programmes and, most importantly, business success.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
