Permanent Waged role starting at $38 per hr with O/T and Afternoons when required

We have multiple exciting opportunities for Material Handlers to join our team where you will be working with our Yard Logistics team and contributing to the success of Australia’s largest shipbuilding program!

Reporting to the Shipyard Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for the provision of quality and customer focused service through the activities of receipt, handling, control, pick and dispatch of goods and materials.

You will be working with an inclusive and supportive team working in an evolving environment with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement. This role will be based out of various locations in Adelaide and will require travel to different sites. All sites are approximately 30 minutes from the Osborne Shipyard site in SA. This role is a 9-day fortnight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Loading and unloading of steel plate and beams
  • Forklift, jib & Gantry Crane Operations
  • Input and upkeep of data within the relevant ERP database system
  • Establish and maintain goods traceability through application of business policies and procedures
  • Daily interaction with the operator team – material delivery to Shipyard drops zones.
  • Maintain 100% material inventory accuracy, tools and equipment.
  • Strive to continuously improve teamwork, processes and effectiveness in the work area.

About YOU

  • Heavy industry / engineering background desirable
  • Dogging or Rigging Ticket
  • Gantry Crane experience
  • Heavy Vehicle Licence
  • Forklift ticket
  • Knowledge of ERP / Oracle / Sap
  • Strong safety focus and enhancing the site safety environment.
  • Strong time keeping abilities.
  • Excellent communication.

Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Essential).
