We have a great opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team supporting our Maritime projects, focusing on Financial Planning & Analysis, cost base and stakeholder management. Reporting to the Accounting Manager – Maritime Reporting and Planning, this role is responsible for leading monthly management reporting, forecasting and annual budgeting activities as well as being a key Finance Business Partner to functions and Maritime leadership.

This role can be based out of our Osborne Shipyard or Flinders Street offices in SA.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Being a key contact for reporting requirements for the Maritime Business Unit, supporting the Accounting Manager in consolidating and delivering month end, budgets, Integrated Business Plans and Statutory reporting requirements
  • Deliver insights and reports that influence high level decisions by Maritime leadership
  • Supporting functional leads by managing budgets and providing timely and accurate financial information for decision making
  • Lead reporting and planning activities for the Maritime central cost base, becoming a trusted finance business partner to the Maritime Innovation team and managing a portfolio of company-funded Research & Development projects
  • Preparation of monthly reports of actuals and variances against budget and previous forecast in an accurate and timely manner
  • Provide support to the Accounting Manager with Maritime consolidation of all FP&A activities (month end, budget, integrated business plan etc.)
  • Assist in ad-hoc decision support requirements
  • Uphold a strong governance culture, including compliance with Finance Policies and Accounting Standards

About YOU

  • Degree qualification as well as professional CA, CIMA or CPA qualification
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and experience adapting these styles to audiences at varying organisational levels, including senior leadership
  • Collaborative approach to work in a team environment within Finance and across functions
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to interpret, analyse, challenge and communicate financial results, financial consequences of specific initiatives/plans, and propose actionable solutions
  • Experience with Oracle EPM (desirable)
  • Experience working within a project team or cost base reporting (desirable)
  • A fresh mindset to drive continuous improvement both within the team and cross-function to enhance the data we use and share with key stakeholders
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Eligibility for a Baseline Defence security clearance
