Role description:
The role holder will be a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support the legal function by delivering high-quality administrative support, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting with data protection and privacy obligations. This role is critical in maintaining efficient legal operations and supporting the organization’s governance and risk management framework.
Core duties:
- Providing support to the Data Protection Lead on all DP matters including assisting with data privacy assessments on new and legacy processes, technology and services and supporting the handling of DSAR’s
- Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of compliance programs in line with internal policies and maintain compliance registers, including conflicts of interest and gifts and hospitality
- Maintaining contractual standard templates and clause libraries in line with legal and compliance requirements
- Assisting in identifying and tracking legal and regulatory risks and support the preparation of reports for senior management and governance forums
- Providing day-to-day administrative support to the legal team, including diary management, correspondence, and document preparation
Essential skills:
- Previous experience in an administrative, legal, compliance role
- Understanding of basic legal processes and documentation
- Considerable organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ample written and verbal communication skills
The Maritime & Land Defence Solutions Legal Team:
The role is based in the Maritime & Land Defence Solutions Legal Team. We are a small close-knit team based in various locations across the UK including the Northeast and Southeast of England and South Wales.Our team covers a wide range of products and projects including warship support, radars and munitions.We help to protect the nation, its people and the UKs allies.
You will be joining a team that is well regarded within the business and has a wide supportive network across its sites, function and wider business.The legal function has also been recognised externally within recent awards at The Lawyer Awards 2024 (InHouse Commerce & Industry Team of the Year), the Legal Business Awards 2024 (Highly Commended In-House Team of the Year) and shortlisted in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Europe Awards 2024.
