Salary: £54,793 – £60,326 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

Having a hands-on lead role, being responsible for the installation and support of a wide variety of Engineering software applications and their infrastructure, working with other technical specialists who are jointly providing:

  • Building specifications and configurating key Engineering applications such as PLM and CAD systems on Windows and Unix environments
  • Installation and setup of underlying infrastructure required by the engineering applications such as relational databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and Middleware (Tomcat, Wildfly, IIS)
  • Analysis of production issues with an ability to problem solve and propose pragmatic solutions to issues related to the installation and support of these applications
  • Instructions to enable the deployment or upgrade of engineering applications as well as providing technical assistance to support the implementation of those instructions into production and non-production environments

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Proven experience of working in an application installation or support role in either a Windows or Unix/Linux environment
  • Scripting experience either Windows PowerShell/DOS Batch files, UNIX scripts, SQL scripting
  • Experience of application packaging configuration and testing both client and servers
  • An understanding of architectural models and operating systems

Desirable

  • A general understanding of PLM and CAD systems
  • Experience of working in the engineering environment

The Application Environment Support team:

The team are expanding its existing application infrastructure capability and build a team that will undertake the installation, configuration, and management of multiple Engineering application environments.

Working on F35 project, and new future combat systems, to provide application installation configuration support for engineering software tools used for the design of the aircraft.

The team will also be responsible for documenting build processes and installation steps to provide a secure, fully supported, stable service for the infrastructure element of the application infrastructure service to the ESCC clients.
