Role Description:

We have an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Lead to join our team within the JORN LOB based in Adelaide

The Engineering Lead supports the effective delivery of the JORN Acquisition Program through the application of sound engineering judgement, technical integration, and stakeholder engagement within an acquisition delivery environment.

The role is responsible for translating customer priorities and contractual technical requirements into clear, executable technical direction for Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and for applying a coherent technical narrative to support informed decision‑making and management of customer expectations throughout the delivery lifecycle.

The position operates without direct line management responsibility, but exercises influence, authority, and leadership through technical credibility, stakeholder engagement, and integration across engineering, project management, and customer interfaces.

Core Duties:

  • Provide authoritative technical and delivery input to support programme‑level narrative, reporting, and governance, ensuring alignment between customer priorities, contractual obligations, engineering activity, and reported JORN Phase 6 performance.
  • Support programme schedule and budget control through application of engineering judgement to assess scope maturity, technical dependencies, delivery sequencing, and impacts arising from technical risk, change, or integration issues.
  • Work closely with the Commonwealth (CoA) and internal stakeholders to understand and prioritise customer technical requirements in alignment with JORN Phase 6 and other Portfolio objectives.
  • Interpret and decompose system and subsystem‑level technical requirements into clear tasking for Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Develop and apply a clear technical narrative that supports governance forums, reviews, and customer engagements
  • Support technical governance activities including reviews, assurance events, and decision forums as required.

About You

  • A good understanding and experience in effective use of Engineering process, lifecycles, methods, tools and infrastructure
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • A working knowledge of cost management, schedule management and risk assessments

  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1.
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR)
